Rosemary Betterton is author of a major new study, Maternal Bodies in the Visual Arts, Manchester University Press, published in March 2014. She has written articles on maternal embodiment for journals Feminist Review, Feminist Theory, Maternal Studies and Hypatia, and has published widely on contemporary women’s art practices including two books An Intimate Distance: Women, Artists and the Body, 1996, and Unframed: the Practices and Politics of Women’s Painting, 2004.
